IT Data Manager

The IT Data Manager is responsible for all aspects of IT Data Strategy and management ensuring we have data polices, standards, processes, infrastructure and controls in place to protect and enable our data assets in support of business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define overall our data management strategy and architectures to ensure maximum business benefit benefits from data assets.
  • Define and maintain the IT data polices and controls in line with industry standards.
  • Drive data quality best practice while defining and implementing data quality policies, processes, procedures and standards as well as contributing to the development of a data quality strategy.
  • Define and implement data change delivery projects including establishing delivery structure and team.
  • Develop processes to streamline data quality measurement, monitoring and remediation across business areas to include metrics on the data quality e.g. validity, integrity, accuracy, completeness, timeliness control, availability, relevance, usefulness, accessibility, and definition
  • Develop processes to document and maintain data lineage, critical data element metadata and data quality rules
  • Manage and execute the creation and distribution of data quality scorecards
  • As part of organizational risk framework conduct risk assessments of our data assets and define and implement remediation actions.
  • Assist in formulating and conducting awareness forums, both formal and informal, as part of an organisational focus towards greater data quality awareness
  • Investigate with stakeholders key areas/opportunities for data enhancement and support stakeholders in raising initiatives for assessment in data governance forum
  • Run data quality forum with representatives across business functions to understand data quality issues
  • Define processes and procedures for conducting audits of data quality using sound sampling and statistical estimation techniques
  • Liaise with IT and Information security to ensure training and awareness to ensure safety, security and compliance of data.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Minimum of 10 years of which 5 years' senior level experience working on data related strategies, policies, designs and associated implementations, ideally in financial services.
  • Experienced in formulating data strategies and approaches in developing data capabilities and exploiting business value from data assets
  • Proven experience in latest data architecture trends including data models
  • Deep understanding of related internal and external data requirements.
  • Sound knowledge and experience of best practices and metrics in data quality including validity, integrity, accuracy, completeness, timeliness control, availability, relevance, usefulness, accessibility, and definition
  • Solutions orientated with experience of building new out data assets and the type of management control that are required to govern
  • Experienced in all aspects of data security and risk management
  • Strong team leadership skills with ability to engage and motivate diverse IT teams and stakeholder groups

Key Performance Indicators

  • Data Strategy and Roadmap aligned to Business Strategy.
  • Data Management System Aligned with industry standards with IT Quality Management System.
  • Data Governance and Metrics in place with associated reporting.
  • Risk and Compliance reporting and measurement (including Non-conformance metrics)
  • Data Services in line with SLA's.
